Mandvi in the Gulf of Kutch is a port city in Gujarat and has all the hustle bustle of a busy port city. It also has the expanse and beauty of the Arabian Sea at its doorstep. Mandvi was a place that was inhabited for the last 500 years and became a very famous merchant port. They owned a fleet of more than 400 ships and traded quite regularly with East Africa and Persian Gulf. There was the spice trade route as well as the desert camel caravan route whih made Mandvi a very interesting and exotic place to be in. One of the most beautiful places here is the Vijay Vilas Palace. This is the palace used by the many kings as summer retreat and has a private beach. The palace is built by architects from Jaipur this definitely one palace that live up to your expectations. There are many other places to visit here such as the Mazar-e –Noorani where people come to pay tribute to a great saint, the scenic Swaminarayan temple, the Rukamvati Bridge, the Winds Farm Beach which has some wonderful windmills here and the Bandhni Bazaar among many other places in Mandvi. Mandvi is a traditional place which will give you a wonderful getaway. The long beaches and the beautiful palaces make sure that you truly fall in love with this long ago port city.
