Kangra is one of those towns in Himachal Pradesh which was so very famous and importance that their significance cannot be rubbed away by time. A beautiful place near the Himalayas it is located at the confluence of the Majhi and Benner stream overlooking the Ban Ganga. A place of ancient importance, it can be attested by the temples and the fort that is present here. The Kangra fort, also known as the Nagar Kot is a place which exudes history from its every pore. With high ramparts and thick walls which extend for 4 km you can easily understand how important the Kangra fort must have been for the dynasties that ruled this place. The fort is awesome with a huge superb entrance gate known as Ranjit Singh Gate, a polygonal watch tower and the Shish Mahal. The Laxmi Narayan Temple and the Adinath temple are the earliest remnants of the fort.
Prime attraction in Kangra include Behna Mahadev – the famous gable roofed shrine in the Satluj valley, Bajreshwari Temple, Brijraj Behari Temple, Kangra Art Gallery, Karaeri Lake, International Himalayan Festival, Masrur Temple, Sujanpur Fort and the Judges Court.
