Barog has really one word to describe it- stunning. On the Kalka- Shimla highway in Himachal Pradesh, this is one place which fulfils all your dreams of a hill station. A small village but very beautiful village this is famous for the Vishal Shiva temple. The Solan Brewery offers some interesting options to explore too and should definitely be visited.The Dolanji Bom Monastery is located nearby in a village called Ochhghat. 5km from here on Narag-Sarahan road, located at famous Bon Monastery known 'Yungdrung Bon Monastery' being run by Yungdrung Bon Monastic Centre. These are completely independent thriving active centres of traditional Tibetian learning with 120 monks residing in it. n the eve of New Year and on other occasions three sacred Bon dances are performed here which are of great attraction. The Karol Goofa is another great attraction a few kilometes away from Barog. This is considered to be one of the longest goofas in this Himalayan range which starts from Karol and ends in Pinjore, and is about 2135 metres long. The Goddess Kali temple and the Hanuman temple are some great attractions to pilgrims who visit this place.The trek upto Karol is steep but highly enjoyable and should definitely be attempted. The one thing you should attempt is the Mahashir fishing in the Giri river. This is an experience you will not forget in a hurry. Barog needs no promotions. It is so beautiful you will be compelled to visit it
